The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia announces<\/a> that the deadline for submitting applications for voluntary certification of teachers at general education institutions has been extended until October 11, 2026.<\/p>\n

What progress has been made in voluntary teacher certification?<\/p>\n

The action plan deriving from the \u201cState Programme for the Development of Education of the Republic of Armenia until 2030\u201d, approved by the Government Decision No. 351-L of March 16, 2023<\/a>, sets the indicator of the \u201cshare of general education school teachers receiving a salary supplement as a result of voluntary certification.\u201d According to the targets set, the share was to reach 16.6% in 2023, 31% in 2024, 63% in 2026, and 80% in 2030.<\/p>\n

At the Cabinet meeting on January 22, 2026, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan stated that 9,602 teachers, or around 31% of teachers, had already successfully completed voluntary certification: \u201cProfessional development and higher remuneration are our consistent and sustained policies, as a result of which 9,602 teachers, or 31% of our teachers, have already successfully completed voluntary certification and are receiving higher remuneration. Alongside these voluntary certification figures, we also attach importance to improving the process.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thus, according to the latest published official data, the figure stands at 31%. This represents 49.2% of the 63% target set for 2026.<\/p>\n

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports also extended the deadline for submitting applications for voluntary certification in 2024. That year, the application period was announced<\/a> as running from May 21 to September 1, and on August 9, the deadline was extended<\/a> until September 30 inclusive.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the 31% figure for 2026 cannot yet be considered the final result for the year, as applications for this year’s voluntary certification will be accepted until October 11 and the process is still ongoing.<\/p>\n

For 2030, the target is for the share of teachers receiving a salary supplement as a result of voluntary certification to reach 80%. How achievable this target will be remains to be seen as the process continues.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
